Mitch’s Marketing Madness

Welcome to this site where I am testing a viral marketing email plan to increase my student and client base in the area. 

 I am in pre-launch and haven’t set a launch date yet.  I will do a video using the free Vidi Widget made for Google Desktop and then send the video link to 50 of my favorite clients closest to the center of my service area.  Those who will refer me will do so because they have had a very good experience with my service. 

I will be the only one doing the training. 

 I will call all 50 to see if they got the email and whether or not they forwarded the email. 

The results will be posted.   

I will have a hit counter on my site that will reflect how many visits I receive to this page compared with how many on my other pages.

 I have never really intentionally requested referrals before but since it is my only advertising, I thought I’d use this video message to see if I could generate interest in computer training and service this way. 

The message will simple with the details of the offer on this page.

For example, I will say: "In return for any referral who pays for 2 hours or more, I am willing to offer you a free one-hour lesson."   Of course only one person can be the referrer in order to get the free hour.  The new student must name you as the person who referred them in order for you to get the credit.

The text of the video message is:

Hi -  I’m Mitch Terrusa,  owner of the Computer Tutor out of Tarzana, California.  I’m testing out a marketing idea and I would like your help: 

Since 1992 I have been teaching people how to use their computers by visiting their homes and businesses and they have rewarded me with many referrals over the years which has kept me pretty busy most of the time.

I am asking that you forward this email to people within my service area ( within 25 miles of Tarzana, Ca 91356)¹

 In return for any referral who pays for 2 hours or more, I am willing to offer you a free one-hour lesson.   

You can gift the free hour if you can’t use it.  I charge $75 for one hour and $130 for 2 hours – there are package deals on my website at www.terrusa.net.

I appreciate you for keeping this going – all you have to do is forward this to anyone in the area who might like computer training lessons or computer maintenance. 

 And just so this email won’t circle the globe for many years I will end this experiment February 29, 2008. If you are getting this after that date, please just delete it.  I expect to keep the webpage up for at least a year for those who are interested.

 ¹ If someone outside the area wants training I will attempt to set up a remote training session using the Internet and a phone.  I will honor the 1 hour free if the paid session is successfully completed.

 If you qualify for a free lesson and you are outside my service area, I will attempt a remote training with you.  If we are unsuccessful, you can gift the time to someone within my service area.
